THE highest number of application for the 1Malaysia Maintenance Fund (TP1Malaysia) programme came from low- and medium-cost apartment dwellers in Penang.
Federal Territories and Urban Well-beingย Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said since TP1Malaysia was extended nationwide on June 4, the ministry has received a total of 64 applications.
“Out of that, 22 were from Penang while the rest were from Johor and Selangor,” he said, after handing out donations to retired government servants at Pantai Dalam community centre today.
Nong Chik said BN goverment has no qualms of helping those in the state or areas under the Opposition rule.
“We are willing to help everyone. They (the Opposition) always accuse us of not helping them, now this reveals that they are the ones who are not helping the low income groups in their areas,” he said.
On a different note, Raja Nong Chik declined to elaborate when asked on a possible candidate to replace KL Mayor Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail, whose term was expected to end this Saturday.
The TP1Malaysia programme was introduced in Jan 2010, initially to help with the maintenance of low- and medium-cost flats in Kuala Lumpur. Since the programme was launched, 12 projects worth RM5.3mil had been completed in the city.
